HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP
Senior High youth group meets Wednesday nights during the school year and is focused on taking young people's faith to the next step. Confirmation is being completed or has been completed by the youth group members, and we use this as a jumping point to explore and develop our common faith. Mission trips, ELCA Youth Gathering trips, service projects, and retreats are other activities.
MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP
Middle School Youth Group is for 5th-8th graders. Meeting on Sunday evenings from 6-7:30pm through the course of the year, they play games, have great talks, do service projects and much more all keeping Christ at the center of the fun and fellowship.
HIGH SCHOOL PEER MINISTRY
Peer Ministry is a program offered for high schoolers. Weekly meetings are Wednesdays following youth group. Peer Ministry offers a weekend long training off site that teaches kids to help other kids by deepening their listening skills, picking up on body language and how to be a resource to others to get them the help they may need. Peer Ministry teaches kids to be a good Samaritan and to respond to the needs of their friends.
Religious Release is for grades 3-5 and occurs 12 times per school year from October through May. This is a free program that provides transportation via school buses for an hour of singing, sharing stories from the Bible and fellowship. Both Zion and St. Andrew's Lutheran Churches make up this program.
Zion Children, Youth & Family (CYF) Team
Meets once a month and is comprised of the Children, Youth & Family Ministry Director, adult leaders, parents, and a youth representative from the Peer Ministry Team. In these meetings, financial and programmatic decisions are made concerning all areas of ministry. This team is a decision making, leadership team. If you are interested in being a member, please contact Sonja Nelson in the church office. The meetings, however, are open to all.
